Below is a 20¢ stamp identified a Canal Maritime De Suez. I haven't been able to identify it in my Scott Catalogues.
I'd appreciate help in identifying same. If anyone could shed some light on the back of the stamp (second scan), I'd be interested to knowing something about the backstamp.
Regards
Mike

Bobgggg, thanks for the link. Given the number of forgeries that exist, it is probable that mine is a forgery. It would be interesting to know what the backstamp refers to.

Bobgggg, I don't know if it is an expertizing mark. I've never seen anything like it so I'm hoping someone on the forum can offer some insight on the backstamp.

Employing the SCF "search" option would have assisted
The back stamp is just an advertising mark from a stamp dealer
I think you will find.

Rod, thanks for pointing to the other thread. Until recently, I hadn't bothered reading many of the auctions but will do so from now on because some of them are also educational.

I see Mike,
now that is something new,
I just use the "last 100 posts" or "active"
to read posts, I don't pick out particular rooms.

When "searching" especially by thread topic
the database does not discriminate into rooms
so you get all occurences of the text string.

Just goes to show people use different routes
in SCF.

Here is also something from Cjd....

which will address your query.

The thread topic was a little hard to find
(I had to search 7 pages) but I recalled a thread on
the backs of stamps.

I've just seen one of these on ebay.
I didn't really know anything about them and found this excellent article - http://www.rjbw.net/SuezCanal.html
Really interesting topic.
