Pope Gregorio XVI founded in 1839 the Egyptian Museum and the Etruscan Museum, to collect the works coming from the excavations and explorations made in Egypt and Etruria.

The Pharaoh Mentuhotep II also called Nebhapetre was the fifth king of the Eleventh Dynasty. According to the Turin Kings list he reigned for an impressive fifty-one years from 2055 to 2004 BC (by Encyclopedia Britannica he ruled from 2008 to 1957 BC). The head of pharaoh is 60 cm height and made of sandstone. |

Userkaf pharaoh of 5th dynasty

Userkaf was first king of the 5th dynasty and ruled 2494-2487 BC. Under his reign the cult of Re, god of the sun, began to gain unprecedented importance. He built the Pyramid complex around 2490 BC in the pyramid field at Saqqara. |

Rahotep and Nofret

The painted limestone statues of prince Rahotep and beautiful wife Nofret were found at their double mastaba at Dahshur. The mastaba is located near the pyramid of Meidum. That shows they were members of the royal family of the Fourth Dynasty. Rahotep was a probably son of pharoh Sneferu. |

Pharoh Sheshonq II

Pharoh Sheshonq II from 22th dynasty ruled 890 BC. The rulers from this dynasty had ruled from them capital Tanis. On stamp is djat (Horus eye) from one of seven bracelets found on his mumie.

Tomb Stela of Amenemhat`s Family

Amenemhat I who ruled 1976 - 1947 BC in coregency with Senwosret I (?) was the first king of the 12th Dynasty. The rectangular stela made out of painted limestone shows Amenemhat I with his wife, son, and daughter (she is cut from picture).

Nofret was a noblewoman and princess of the Fourth Dynasty (c. 2613-2494 BC) in ancient Egypt. Here is an image of a stamp designed after a detail from a statue of Nofret, printed by photogravure, and issued by Egypt (UAR) on August 30, 1959, Scott No. 476, plus an image of the same detail of the statue, on display in the Cairo Museum. Sarcophagus of Ahmes Meritamun

The sarcophagus is from time of New Kingdom when ruled Amenhotep I pharoh of 18th dynasty. It belongs to Ahmes Meritamun a royal daughter of Ahmose I. She became the Royal Wife of her brother Amenhotep I, the second ruler of the 19th Dynasty . This sarcophagus was found in 1929 in the rock-cut Tomb in Deir al Bahari in Luxor. |

Pharoh Menkaure

Menkaure - greek Mycarinos was the 5th pharoh of 4th Dynasty and ruled 2532-2503 BC. The time of 4th dynasty is characterized as a "golden age" of the Old Kingdom. On left stamp is famous statue of Menkaura, flanked by goddess Hathor and goddess of protection of one of administrative district Diospolis Mikra of Upper Egypt. On right stamp is his pyramid, the smallest of piramids from Gizah plato (66 metres). |

Cartouches
Only names of pharaons, queens and sometimes high priests had cartouches around their names. Inside a cartouche, the signs are mainly phonetic signs. The oval-shaped enclosures got name by Franch soilders remainded them of the cartridges in their guns.

On stamp are cartouches with:- the throne name of pharaoh Tutankhamen Nebkheperura
- the birth name of pharaoh Tutankhamen, ending in three symbols saying that he rules Upper and Lower Egypt
- the name of the wife of Tutankhamen (his half-sister) Ankhesenamun
 The cartouche on the Roseta stone with name of Ptolemy the pharaoh Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Ptolemaic Dynasty who ruled 285-246 BC. |
