Two new stamps for me from my weekends' stamp show experience. I would like some comments on the second image, which was listed as a Unitrade 37iii. Dunno... was it worth extra $ or am I taken to the cleaners? I've no idea on the total values or numbers... so please chime in. Thanks. Barb

This is what I had already:

Hi Barb

As I am sure you nare aware, condition is the be-all and end-all.

This applies particularly for the 5 cents 'slate' or 'grey' with a large chunk out of it, the 6 cents red-brown with a chunk out of the corner, 8 cents 'greyish blue' with rough corners, and the 12 1/2 cents Large Queen also with a very large chunk out of it. These stamps are virtually worth nothing and should be avoided.

You also have to think of re-selling some time in the future and this is what the other possible buyers will be looking for.

The other stamps you have scanned that I did not mention, are just regular stamps that are found in most Canadian collections and are not high in catalogue value. Also keep in mind, that the centering is important too and the stamps you have scanned varies from VG to fine+ and, unfortunately, none of the centering is considered superb.

I am being critical because there are some collectors out there that want nothing but Superb or as best as they can get to that.

I hope this helps you out?

Chimo

Check your perfs on the second scan 3cent small queen. It does have that copperish shade to it and if the right perf is worth a premium. One of the hardest stamps to discern actual shades as they differ greatly. Copper or Indian Red are more and if the right perf (don't have catalog with me) could be substantially more.

Nitro is referring to the 3c perf 12.5 small queen, which has a catalog value (2011 Scott) of $1400.

Since I've spent naught on most shown, the commentary is appreciated, but moot in other than terms of moving on. I do greatly appreciate the references. Wish you were neighbors to run in for tea and commentary.

The two I bought were the top two... and the second, the one in question. Marked Unitrade 37iii. or copper. So now I need figure out the perf to make it certain, but from your reaction, I gather, I was skunked.
