Although the sailing ship is only a secondary design element on this stamp, issued by Monaco on August 1, 2001 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Prince Albert I Oceanography Prize, it does have the additional merit of having been designed and nicely engraved by Czeslaw Slania, Scott No. 2214.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Argentine Navy training ship (now a museum ship) ARA Presidente Sarmiento, a 2,750 ton sailing vessel built by Laird Brothers, Birkenhead, England, and launched in 1897. This stamp was printed by lithogravure, and issued by Argentina on October 5, 1947 to mark the 50th anniversary of the ship's launching, Scott No. 567, SG No. 778. Note the interesting additional design elements of the constellation Crux (the Southern Cross), and the anchor decorated with the Argentine Sol de Mayo national emblem.

Those Yugoslavian ones are excellent examples of the majesty of these ships.

Also a great print job by Courvoisier as usual.
