Aitutaki (Cook Islands) 1974 - William Bligh and the Discovery of Aitutaki on 11th Apirl 1789. The ship was HMS Bounty and the infamous mutiny happened on the 28th April that same year. Captain James Cook features on one of the two 30c stamps.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the sailing steamship Zaragoza, designed by G. Gutierrez, printed by photogravure, and issued by Mexico on July 1, 1972 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Heroica Escuela Naval Militar, the officer training academy of the Mexican Navy, Scott No. 1041.

Voyage of Tall Ships, Saint-Malo, France to Quebec City, Canada, printed by lithography, and issued by Canada on May 18, 1985 to commemorate the 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier's landing in Quebec, Scott No. 1012.

You'll have to use a bit of imagination to see the tall ship on this stamp: Helmsman, designed by Mexican artist Francisco Eppens Helguera (1913-1990), printed by photogravure, and issued by Mexico on December 1, 1940, Scott No. 764.

Mutiny, anyone? Here is an image of a stamp depicting His Majesty's Armed Vessel Bounty, engraved and printed by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd., and issued for use in Pitcairn Islands on October 15, 1940, Scott No. 6.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Penola, a three-masted schooner which provided transportation for the British Graham Land Expedition, 1934-37, engraved and printed by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd., and issued for use in Falklands Islands Dependencies on February 1, 1954, Scott No. 1L23.

Here are images of the two stamps in a sailing ships set, printed by lithography, and issued by Greece on April 7, 1960 to publicize the World Refugee Year, Scott Nos. 667 & 668. Each stamp design also includes the "uprooted oak tree" emblem adopted by the UN.

The Olive Blossom, designed by Lady Carter, wife of Sir Gilbert Carter, who was then Governor of Barbados, engraved and printed by Thomas De La Rue & Co., Ltd., and issued for use in Barbados on August 15, 1906 to commemorate the tercentenary of the annexation of the island by Great Britain, Scott No. 109.

Scott USA 2093 commemorating the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first English settlers to the "New World" issued 13 July 1984.
