I marked in red how I see the last date number could possibly be a "2". If it was a "3" it would have a flat top like the month "3" (unless that is a "5"). |

Rod, I got my Barefoot today, and it turns out that your 50r stamp IS genuine, and mine is the forgery . Actually I don't mind, I have quite a few genuine and only 2 forgeries of that value. The clue is not with the "50" but with the rays of the sun. They are short and blunt on the forgeries, and sharp and longer on the genuine. Also, see the break in the left line of the oil well on the left - that means FORGERY. Also the dots under the inscription in the top middle box are triangles on the originals, and smaller circular dots on the forgeries . I will start another thread on Azerbaijan forgeries with close-up scans of all values showing the differences. It seems I now have the complete set 1-10 on original white paper, reprints on gray-brown and forgeries. |

To rub it in Rod, Scott catalogue says: "Counterfeits exist of Nos. 1-29. They generally sell for more than genuine copies." |
