Cursus posted the sheet in the previous post long ago......so a bit of reviving is in order.

Here is a similar sheet from 'London 1980' but with missing [or omitted] text.

Europhilex later..........

1890 London Philatelic Exhibtion

The first International Stamp exhibition was held at the Portman Rooms, Baker Street London in 1890 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Penny Post.

During the show,James Dunbar Heath, the Managing Director of Perkins Bacon gave a demonstration on the perforation and overprinting of stamps. Several sheets of the unissued red-brown and blue 'Britannia' stamps of Mauritius, which had been returned from Mauritius and sold as remainders, were used for the demonstration. The overprint were the letters 'L.P.E.' for London Philatelic Exhibition with the year '1890' below. The stamps were perforated by Hannah Stewart, who had perforated most of Perkins Bacon's Colonial stamps, and around 1500 were sold for charity at 6d each. The overprinting was carried out by Marcellus Castle who would later become president of the RPSL. He also created some tête-bêche pairs and double overprints which were sold at 2 shillings each.

I posted these in another thread (which was an incorrect thread) so I reposted here. These are neat and quite handsome for my non-stamp stamp section. Given the posts here I think this may be the appropriate thread.

I must have missed some of the posts here and have just seen the 1890 LPE labels....wonderful.

I have been after these for years and am always outbid on the [very] few occasions they are offered.

Thanks for showing [if the poster is still around].

Fine-looking sheets produced for the 4th Stamps, Medals and Coins Exhibition in Boston in 1935.
They just don't make 'em like this anymore !

Here are some SEPAD, Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware show labels/ souvenirs. The first scans are from the first show held in 1938 celebrating The Swedish-American Tercentenary. There are four labels and the folder that they were in. These were still being sold in 1972 when I attended my first stamp exhibition. I have been involved with the show for at least the past twenty years. The show changed it's name to PNSE, Philadelphia National Stamp Exhibition in the early ninety's.

This set is from the 1942 exhibition with the envelope that the labels were sold in.

I have been outbid bigtime on a few Sepad items in the last day or two. Seems like they are very popular.
