ANTIGUA AND BARBUDAThe Carribean Island of Antigua achieved Associated Statehood in 1967 prior to becoming Independent within the Commonwealth in 1981.
A competition was held to design the Islands' Flag, and the winning entry is still in use today in Antigua & Barbuda [a dependency of Antigua].

Shown above is the set of stamps issued to commemorate Statehood in 1967.
The two red triangles express the strength of the people; The Black stripe for the soil and the Peoples African heritage. The blue stripe represents hope. The triangles and stripes form a 'V' which stands for Victory.
The golden sun rising over the stripes represents a new era for the Island and it's people.
The colours in the design also promote the main attractions of Antigua and Barbuda, Sun, Sea and Sand......Gold,Blue and White !
At various times during the last 40 years or so, Barbuda have issued both their own stamps and used the stamps of Antigua overprinted or Inscribed....ot both. More on that another time.
Below is an example of the Flag on a sheetlet of Barbuda for the Queen's Jubilee visit of 1977.
The Jubilee issues of Antigua showing different designs were also used in Barbuda, overprinted 'Barbuda'! It's complicated
