Very nice Mr Lovell. The ship on the Egypt stamp is the Destroyer, Al Nasser. It was to commemorate Navy Day.
I see the Uruguay stamp was printed by Waterlow & sons. Very nice. |

Yes, refreshing to see Liberian stamps now and again.
I think I have figured out the two icons linking the vignette to the ribbon.
I think they are Capstan bars, used to insert into the capstan to raise and lower the anchor. They were always wound clockwise, and sea songs called "shanties" were sung whilst winding to a particular beat.
