Nice Mr.Lovell, and my territory too ! The stamp celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the Military Academy. The Cadet in the front is carrying the Flag of the Egyptian Army [as was then, now changed], which was the UAR Flag with crossed swords top left. The Egyptian Flag flies on the Flagpole to the right. I found some nice Flags too...... Londonbus1...see my next post ! |

Poster stamps of the Under Officers Society Copenhagen, 1914. I particularly like the Swallowtail Danish red Ensign flapping in the wind. More later....... |

Londonbus, that Danish maid makes me crave a piece of toast with some spread! Here are some nice US mint/unused I received today. Nice subtle flag waving as is typical of or American friends. Jamestown 1907 and Mr Washington with his stars and bars This is a very long thread. Forgive me if these have appeared here before. |

Très subtil US flag waving: Here is an image of a stamp depicting the national flags of France and the USA, an airplane and a steamship, designed by Raymond Subès (1891-1970), one of the most renowned French metalworkers of the Art Deco period, engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued by France on May 14, 1949 to celebrate Franco-American friendship, Scott No. 622, Y&T No. 840. - nethryk |

Here is an image of a stamp depicting flag-waving marchers in a May Day demonstration, designed by Swedish illustrator Svenolov Ehrén (1927- ) after an illustration by Swedish painter Nils Edvard Kreuger (1858-1930) in the newspaper Social-Demokraten in 1899, engraved by Lars Sjööblom, and issued by Sweden on May 17, 1989 to mark the centenary of the Swedish Labor Movement, Scott No. 1735, Facit No. 1569. - nethryk |

Those are lovely Nells250. I saw the El Salvador one recently for the first time and it is a beautiful engraving so I'll be looking out for that in future. Here's one from Uruguay - Scott #398 |

Great posts Nethryk, Luciano and Nells...great Flag stamps. Like the Uruguay, Anthony. Superb Waterlow Printing. However, I am confused by the Sun in the White Canton. It should have 16 rays both triangular and wavy while the Flag on your stamp only has the eight triangular . I need to check out the stamp I guess ! Londonbus1 |
