Purtugal honoured new EU countries with small sheet and stamp with flags of new and old EU countries.
I have no friend from Portugal so I have no letter with this stamp and/or mini sheet. |

Warsaw Pact
 ..........................................20 years of Pact
......................................................................................30 years of Pact The Warsaw Pact was a mutual defense treaty between 8 communist States of Central and Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War. The founding treaty was established under the initiative of the Soviet Union and signed on 14 May 1955, in Warsaw. On 25 February 1991, the Warsaw Pact was declared disbanded at a meeting of defense and foreign ministers from Pact countries meeting in Hungary. On stamps are flags of only seven countires: Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Soviet Union, because Albania withheld support in 1961 because of the China-Soviet split. |

Scandinavian flags ...... On this souvenir sheet are the flags of the Scandinavian countries: Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Aland, and Denmark. They all based on the Crusader`s Cross and have their origin in the Dannebrog, the "Danish cloth". It is one of the oldest flags in continuous use in the world. The name means "Danish cloth". In 1219 King Valdemar II had a vision in which he saw a white cross in the blood-red sky as he went into the Battle of Lyndanisse against the Livonians. |

6 centuries of Anglo-Portuguese friendship. It's curious because on the English lettering, it says "Anglo-Portuguese", while on the Portuguese texts it reads "Luso-Britânica" that is, Portuguese-British. In my view the English version is the correct, as Scotland was independent by 1373. Furthermore, the flag should be the the English one (St. George's Cross) instead of the Union Jack. |
