Teheran Conference



The Tehran Conference was the first of the World War II conferences held between
all of the three allied leaders of the Soviet Union (Joseph Stalin), the United States (Franklin D. Roosevelt) and the United Kingdom (Winston Churchill).
It was held in the Soviet Embassy in Tehran, Iran from 28 November to 1 December 1943.

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus



The flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is based on the flag of Turkey with the colors reversed and two horizontal red stripes added at the top and bottom.

Flags of the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia, designed by Slovak artist Ladislav Guderna (1921-1999), combined engraved by Jan Mrácek and photogravure, and issued by Czechoslovakia on May 31, 1966 as one of a set of three stamps publicizing the 13th Congress of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, Scott No. 1397.

Portuguese flags



Civil and state flag and national ensign, adopted June 30, 1911 with the lesser coat of arms of Portugal.



Highly ranked state and governmental offices are represented by their own flag:
The flag of President of the Republic (Presidente da República) is usually hoisted at the President's official residence and on the presidential car.
The flag of the national parliament (Assembleia da República) is also a white rectangle with the lesser coat of arms in the centre and a dark green bordure.



Flags of autonomous regions: Flag of the Azores and Flag of the Madeira.

Flags over the Ghetto - 2013



The stamp is issued in commemoration of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising which took place in 1943.
The main battle The Battle for the Flags between German troops and Jewish resistant fighters
took place in Muranowski Square where Pavel Frenkel (he is on stamp) raised the Zionist flag and the Polish flag on one of the rooftops.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the multi-flag "SM" monogram symbol of the International Saarmesse Fair, held in 1953, designed by H. Ring, engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued for use in Saar on March 23, 1953, Scott No. 246, Michel No. 341.

Flag of Coast and Geodetic Survey



Coast and Geodetic Survey a United States federal agency defines and manages a national coordinate system.
It had its own flag from 1899 to 1970 when became a part of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 1970.
The flag was blue, with a central white circle and a red triangle centered within the circle.

Greenlandic flag

The flag of Greenland was officially adopted on 21 June 1985 and was designed by Greenland native Thue Christiansen.
Its local name in the Greenlandic language is Erfalasorput, which means "our flag".

Flag of Mali



The first flag of Mali was adopted in 1959.
In 1961 a black human-like image (kanaga) was removed because of pressure from Muslims who do not approve of making images of the human shape.
The new flag with no figure was adopted on 1 March 1961.

Egyptian Royal Standard



Monarchs of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty were kings of Egypt from 1805 to 1953.
The stamp was issued in ocassion of birth of Crown Prince Ahmed Fuad
(the king without a throne) in 1952, the son of last king Farouk I.
Farouk abdicated in 1953, they lived inexile.

Pontifical Swiss Guard or Swiss Guard is a small force maintained by the Holy See and is responsible for the safety of the Pope.
It was founded by Pope Julius II in 1506 and count about 110 mnen.
The recruits must be Catholic and Swiss citizens.
