The Romanian Communist Party (PCR) was founded in 1921
and was the only legally permitted party in the country from 1948 to 1989.

Happy Birthday to Albert Bernard (1909-1935), a French colonial administrator of the Somali Coast who was killed, along with some fifteen native militiamen, by an Asmaran (Ethiopian) raiding party at Moraito. Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting Bernard, militiamen, and the national flag of France, designed and engraved by Raoul Serres (1881-1971), and issued for use in Somali Coast on January 18, 1960 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Administrator Bernard, Scott No. C22.

Well, for interest here, NZ is debating whether to change the flag or not. From a multitude of designs submitted, a committee has chosen four which will be voted on against the existing flag in November. This referendum, which has cost the tax payer millions, has seen hot debate.

First we have the existing flag depicted on a stamp.

Whilst those new flag ideas look nice IMO this is just another huge waste of money by the NZ Government. I'll be voting to keep the old flag.

The United Provinces of Central America was a sovereign state and republican democracy which existed from 1821 to 1841. Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting the flag of the United Provinces of Central America, printed by lithography, and issued by Costa Rica on September 14, 1971 to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the independence of Central America from Spain, Scott No. C529.
