Is this just a straight Scott 170 with a postage due postmark (great SOTN too) or is the postage due an overprint making this a postage due stamp that I cannot find?? Need some help from people who know Hungary better than me. All help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance - jeff

Jeff, according to my scott catalog stamps with that overprint are of the issues of the republic 1918-1919..evidently Hungary went through a series of governments after the first world war !

Porto was the term used for postage due in Hungary. This is likely a local provisional postage due which of course is outside Scott's scope.

I agree with warrehouse - it's a provisional postage due from Hungary from around 1918/19. There were similar overprints issued in Czechoslovakia at the same time.

They are referred to Michel with some examples of overprints but they're not listed.
