The version that Jubilee posted are what I have... It's not an overprint, but actually has the words in the design.

You will find the War tax Revenues, same design as Jubilee shows, in 1c orange, perf 12 and perf 8, 2c brown, 3c green, 4c blue, 8c brown, 10c olive, 13c vermillion, 25c carmine and 50c brown. You can also find strips used for wine and spirits in 7 values and you can also find the same stamps overprinted with fractional cent values (3/4c on 1c, 1 1/2c on 1c and 2 1/4c on 3c) but these were done in 1927 to use up existing stocks more than anyhting else. |

Here's my small collection of the war tax revenues. I much prefer them to the modified admirals. One day I shall have them all! Bwaah-ha-ha-ha! |

Hi, ZMN, and welcome to the forum. I presume it is the 50c brown I referred to in the posting just above yours. My reference (Holmes Specialized) has a catalogue number assigned as FWT17 and gives no particular rarity to it. I do not have anything resembling current catalogue value but if it's any help at all it gives .75 unused and .15 used. That's in 1968 money. Commoner ones run .10 and .03 if that's any indication.
Those were the days - stamp dealers really did have a big box of penny stamps. |

This is a different Grenada, Barb: not the Spanish one, but the one your President Reagan invaded, in an unsuccessful attempt to stop it churning out too many stamps |

The one that brought up this topic, a nice 2c, is up in the auction forum. |

I understand what the War Tax stamps are. I am asking about the 1916 2c with "T" stamp; and more specifically about the Die I and II options. A Die I will show a a clear horizontal line of color below the "T"; and a Die II will have the right side of the line replaced by two short lines and five dots. I don't see either of these on the "T" stamps that I have. Are these options readily visible, if they are allegedly present? The catalog doesn't list these stamps in the 2c + 1c brown without a Die I or II. Even in the examples of 2c "T" stamps on line, I don't see any appearance of the I or II. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, |
