I think they are from 1920's... but, they also can be earlier... I am just no sure.

Castine, Maine is a very interesting town... it has only 1343 citizens now, but almost 20 notable people in the past... Wikipedia says it :)

I have one of these with a red overprint: "ALL ROADS LEAD TO / CASTINE / State Centenary Carnival / August 5, 1920". It is faulty. In over forty years of serious collecting of U.S. event labels (poster stamps promoting gatherings of various sorts) I have not seen another. Nor have I seen another example of the booklet. Wonderful!

Very interesting set of poster stamps. I can't seem to find another on any web search listing, so I assume they must be rather scarce. Also interesting is the fact that they were printed by the Souvenir Stamp Company of St. Martin's, New Brunswick. I can find no web reference to that firm either.
