I'm new to the cinderella forum and hope I'm not going over old ground. Spotted a cinderella of Pres Roosevelt with his stamp collection and a quote about how much he enjoyed philately. Should have bid on it, but missed the opportunity. I'd still like to get one, and just don't know if this is a common variety or relatively rare. Anyone out there familiar with this one? I'd like to find out more about it. Thanks in advance.

Can you provide a scanned image of the cinderella you are referring to? There were a number of them issued through the years and without further information it's hard to know if it was a scarce or common variety. While not exactly what you were looking for, if you are interested in FDR and his stamps, you may find this link to be helpful: http://www.postalmuseum.si.edu/deli...ry_Guide.pdf |

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I didn't get a scan of that particular cinderella. However, it is very similar to the picture of Roosevelt with his stamp collection on that link. In fact, it could have been the model for the engraving. |

Terrific collections. The one I was asking about was the first scan with Roosevelt at his stamp collection, but the rest of these are awesome. Thanks for showing them. Now how can I get'em?

I won't say anything about the Rigastamps price [smoke is coming from my ears and nose], but a strip can be had for $1.50 or less. I saw a whole sheet sell for less than $7 recently.

Thanks, Londonbus1. I figured the Rigastamps example was overpriced, but if someone wants it bad enough, I suppose there are people who will buy it.
Actually, I was more interested in the creator of that series of poster stamps "A. August Tiger". I can find miscellaneous references to him being a "stamp promoter" and an "advertising promoter" of some claim in his day and I understand his offices were at or near the famed Nassau Street in New York City during the 1930's and 1940's, but I can find little else about him.
He certainly must have had an imagination, though, with slogans like "Collect Air Mail Stamps ... Enjoy your own indoor airport!" I imagine that would have got a collector's attention, especially in the early days of Air Mail flights. |

I agree. Great slogans to go with the overall design. I particularly like the 'Brings the world into your home', with Mum, Dad and Son and their stamp albums. Those were the days. |
