Here is a copy of 4x stitch watermark. The stitch shows up better toward the bottom of the stamp. See yellow box on scan of back for location of watermark:

Hmmmmmm...watermark...Will have to look at mine..BUT and thats a BIG BUT I still have problems looking at the back side...

Unfortunately I don't have any photos/scans of my stitch watermarks at this point. Will try to get some before long. While the Unitrade catalogue lists a number of known stamps with stitch watermarks, there are a seveal new finds emerging. Two weekends ago I looked at a collection that included clear stitch watermarks on a 3-cent Jubilee, on the 1898 map stamp, and on a couple different denominations of QV Leaf and Numeral issues. Makes sense, too, as the same paper-making machines were being used throughout. I'd be surprised, in fact, if stitch watermarks aren't found on most, if not all, stamps up to about 1900. They're hard to spot, uncommon at best, and most folks don't go to the trouble to look.

Consort, you are correct on all points.

I sold my 10c SQ as it helps pay for my main collection.
