It all started long ago....in 1883 officially, but maybe even earlier than that.
Who would have thought that a simple wash whitener would last so long.....

--------------------------------------------------

So we can fast forward to 1939 and the then owner of MSB, Allyn Ford of Minneapolis, A.P.S. member and erstwhile comedian !
The dislike of commemoratives has been around for some time as you will see, and how better to poke fun at the new issues of the day than produce your own !

And gems they were/are. Here is a selection snapped up from a cheap lot at a Stamp Fair in Colchester,UK.

I give you....

MRS.STEWART'S BLUING!

The middle one who has just surfaced says to to the others:

"What goes on here?"

Yes, they are just about perfect with superb brownish gum as issued.
I have seen these before in mounted ccondition or with hinge remains or faults and not too cheap.
These are some of the best I've seen and I regretted afterwards not getting more from the seller. Indeed I made a few errors of judgement of items I did not buy and now iot's too late !

That's life.
