The seven moai of Ahu Akivi are depicted on this nine peso Chilean stamp of July 11, 1984. The moai are the monolithic statues of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). There are over 900 moai on Rapa Nui; these particular statues are referred to as "the observatory".

From wikipedia, "The seven moai statues are located with absolute astronomical precision. Thus, the sacred observatory and sanctuary with all the seven moai look exactly towards the point where the sun sets during the equinox and which aligns with the moon. Each one is 16 feet (4.9 m) in height and weighs about 18 tons, and its length is 230 feet (70 m)."

On December 14, 1957 Italy issued this 110 lira stamp (Sc #734) commemorating the 150th anniversary of national hero Guiseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882). Scott catalog is not useful in describing this stamp with two words... "Garibaldi monument".

Michel's Suedeuropa catalog is more helpful. They name the statue's sculptor as Raffaello Romanelli (1856-1928). The work was finished in 1896, and it is part of the Garibaldi monument in Siena.

Here is the $1 value (SG #50) from Singapore's 1955-9 QEII pictorial definitive series of 1955-9. Stamp depicts the Thomas Woolner marble statue (1876) of Sir Stamford Raffles, "founder" of colonial Singapore. In 1972 the statue was replaced by a cast, polymarble replica at its location on the north bank of the Singapore River where Raffles is thought to have made his landing in 1819. The original statue now stands in another part of the city, opposite Victoria Concert Halls.

Pic is an old photo showing the original statue before it was moved.
