I've been very happy with the Stamp Albums Web pages to print out for my worldwide collection, however, I am thinking about purchasing the Mystic Heirloom, 3-vol. album set to house my U.S. collection.

I notice that many posters to this forum have used Mystic's albums and wondering whether you can weigh in on their quality. My questions are:

1. What is the approximate weight of the paper? 40-lb or higher? And is it acid-free paper?

2. What years does the album cover?

3. Are supplements available?

4. Are there pages for airmail, revenues and other Back-of-Book items?

The set is on sale for $39 right now and includes 200 U.S. stamps as a part of the offer.

Any pros and/or cons on this set?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Oh and one more question: are slipcases available - either through Mystic or some other merchant?

Check out this link to a previous post on this very subject. Although I don't yet have the Mystic Heirloom Album (I'm thinking of getting one, though) the worst reports I've heard is that the loose leaf albums themselves are rather flimsy. Of course, you can order the better quality albums (at extra cost) or buy your own later on, but if that's the only complaint, I think I can live with it.

thanks wt1. That thread cleared up a few of my questions. I'm still wondering about slipcases, but I suppose I can call Mystic to find out the dimensions of the binders and then go from there.

Thinking about going with the sturdier binders too ... just $30 more but could be worth it in the long run.

They do have slipcases available. $12.00 each.

I have the 2 Heirloom albums. One for mounted MNH and one for hinged used. I am VERY happy with the album pages. The binders are not so great. Even the heavier ones. They are cheaply made and One of these days I will replace all 10 binders I have. So that's my 2 cent.

Binders = bad
Pages = great

sharksfan, where/when did you get quoted the $12 price for slipcases? In an email from Mystic today, I was quoted $22.95 each - the slipcases cost just as much as purchasing the deluxe Heirloom albums with pages and binders. Egads!

I just ordered the Mystic Heirloom album. Mystic sent me 10 sample pages to examine before I placed my order. If you'd like, I'd be happy to mail the 10 pages to you so you could check them out.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sold on the page quality. Before I make the investment I have to re-organize my bookshelves to accommodate the new arrivals, generally do some decluttering in the study where I work on my stamps and a few other things. So, it may be a month before I actually place my order.

I'm stuck on the slipcase issue I guess. Wondering if there are other slipcase out there that sell for less?

When you get your albums, I would really appreciate knowing the dimensions of the binder - I suppose I can get these from the friendly Mystic customer service reps as well.

Since the pages are standard size, I would assume the binders are standard size also. So, if you're willing to forgo an exact color match, you can probably get slip cases pretty cheap.

This thread has answered a lot of great questions that I've been pondering as of late. I am contemplating switching from the vario stock pages to an actual album with the write-ups. Please let me/us know how you made out as I'd be most interested. Thank you. -Jay

Would you like me to scan the pages and send you a PDF for your perusal?

Ok, I scanned the sample Mystic pages. You can nab them here:

The color of the pages is a little off. They're more cream colored than what the scans show.

The album arrives later today. For the truly nosy, I'll take lots of pictures and post them when I get home and crack the box.
