Valls and Riudecanyes, a town and a village in Southern Catalonia, issued these cinderellas on June 1963 and 1964, using the same drawing. May be, it's the same cinderella just with the date and town name overprinted. Cinderellas are written on the, then compulsory, Spanish language. So, Riudecanyes, became "Riudecañas". This, lasted the whole of Franco's dictatorship (1938-39/1975). |

As this thread has reached the 120.000 readings milestone, I wish to commemorate it by showing a cinderella, issued on August 1961 in Olot. It shows the mountain called "Puigsacalm" which towers the Vall d'en Bas (Bas valley) on the comarca of la Garrotxa, about 100 km North of Barcelona. The proceedings of the sale of this cinderella, issued in blocks of 4 with texts on the margins, were going for the erection of a cross on the peak. We can find this cinderella in blue, black, grey and green. It's a landmark well known by Catalan trekkers, and myself, have been there a number of times. Thank you to our readers and contributors |

One of the 5 cinderellas, issued in 1938 by the Basque Refugees Catalan Support Comitee, to raise funds for the Basques refugees in Catalonia, after the fall of their country on the hands of the fascists. Sometimes, and in some places, refered as "Basques", these cinderellas are actually Catalan, as they were printed in Barcelona and paid by Catalans. This one, shows Basque President (or Lehendakari) José Antonio Agirre. |

The real goal of cinderellas is to advertise goods or idees, although this has fallen on dis-use on the last dècades. Nevertheless, the Catalan Independence Movement, facing Spanish represion is again using cinderellas to divulge their fight for a Free Catalonia. Cinderella, issued on December 2017 (see page 49 of this thread), gone through the mail last week in Barcelona. |
