Rummaging through some boxes of miscellaneous philatelic "stuff", I unearthed this small stockbook that I bought 8-10 years ago. I had completely forgotten I had it.
I've always liked classic Central and South American engraved material. It's not overly valuable, but it's neat stuff. Many of the 19th century issues were printed right here in the U.S. at the American Banknote Company.
I especially like early Brazilian material; one of these days I'm going to sit down and sort through this stuff.
Heck of a collection. Is it too crass to ask how much one pays for such a treasure? And, assuming the answer is what I expect, how one can forget something they spent so much for?
It wasn't very expensive. I think paid $150-200 for the lot at the time. My local dealer always used to get bulk lots at good prices. Fewer and farther between these days as the local stamp trade has dried up somewhat.
