It's a ½ Anna, but I believe it's a forgery. It's similar to the first ½ Anna, SG 2, of 1872, but the whole appearance of the stamp is wrong, none of the SG 2 stamps was lettered 'EEGAM' instead of 'BEGAM, the paper looks wrong, the cancellation looks wrong, and I'm very doubtful about the embossing in the centre.

Yes, that`s what I thought (EEGAM 1877, but that should be black ?- that`s something I could decipher from my Y&T) and the frame line should be double (?). Thanks for the informations. I have some other newly aquired Indian States and the b&w old Yvert is of very little help for me.

If it's any consolation at all, yours is a more thorough forgery than normal. Forgers usually don't try to imitate the embossing, or add cancellations
