Hi to all I have reposted these as I posted them on the wrong forum I bought these along with other stamps, about 2000 in all, and they cost me 2 cents each, which is not too bad. Regards Horamakhet
Dianne, look at the third scan above and notice that these stamps have posthorns with thuderbolts (below the central crest). These also exist without thunderbolts.
And there are different printings of these also I think. Lots of detail to get involved in.
The overprinted stamps may be listed under back of the book Russia I believe, North Army or North Eastern Army or some such name. I am no expert, I am just trying to remember previous posts on SCF.
All these stamps are listed in Scott. I spend some time identifying a similar lot and find values because I want to sell it. It's fun to do but don't expect to find valuable stamps in this lot.
I think early Finnish stamps (i.e. before Finland's independence, so when still under Russian rule) look very similar. I think they're in Finnish denominations but otherwise look exactly the same as the tsarist Russia ones. A pain when sorting through them...
Second row, second stamp is Bulgarian, but I only know this because because revstampman told me when I posted it in the wrong forum Regards to all Horamakhet
