Hello all,

I purchased these several years ago and am just now getting around to cataloging them.

I can identify the base stamps as Bohemia & Moravia Scott 62, 63 and 65, but the overprints have me stumped. I assume the pair is a local issue from Czechoslovakia, from just after the Germans were kicked out. How about the others with the "III. CSR" overprints? Also Czechoslovakia locals?

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Happy hunting, Robert

P.S. On the pair, what I thought was an obliteration bar across the bottom is actually the word "Densvobody".

Yes, those are occupation/liberation local overprints. There are several hundred types (including private overprints). Unfortunately, I do not have a reference that matches the overprint with the region/city.

The overprint is actually "den svobody" (Freedom Day). There are also variations, such as "osvobozeni" (Liberation); and also numerous types of symbols.

Hopefully, somebody on SCF has a good reference/resource, or can find one online.

According to my Michel catalogue, these stamps were all locally issued and are in no case recognized by the Czech postal authorities. Examples of such stamps that slipped through and were postally used are known though. Hope that helps.
