I know these aren't stamps but they still will find a spot between my revenues and other B.O.B. stuff. I so remember paregoric and glad the stuff is outlawed as I was practically raised on the stuff! I like this lot though and got it pretty cheap. Enjoy!

Nice BOB material ILS

Correct me if I am wrong, but, wasn't paragoric used in licorice to enhance it's flavour, or am I thinking of something else?

I don't think even opiates could make (black) licorice taste better.. yukk

Sadly it was used as a "liquid babysitter" up in to the late 70's and to cure, well, just about anything.
If you give somebody something that is 20% alcohol and 20% Morphine by volume you'll start to feel better- no-matter what you have! A very dangerous product that I remember from my childhood. It was even marketed for teething babies!

Well not really as I'm not clear on that. I do know that Anise is used, quite heavily I might add, to licorice and sold as a digestion aid and a stomach bitter also but I'm not exactly clear on everything pharmacopeia-wise. I just know from what my Great Grandmother used to tell me that Anise was a homeopathic remedy back in her day. (We are Pennsylvania Dutch)

The way I'm hurting right now I almost wish I had some laudanum or Paregoric about now. I am on some strong pharmaceuticals but nothing like that crap!~ lol

<- This is what I think my pharmacist looks like...lol

Reminds me of when I used to live in Normandy, France -- home of that wicked brew Calvados (apple cider with an 80+ degree proof PUNCH).

In the local countryside, mothers used Calva to put their babies to sleep, as a result of which there were entire hospital wings for infant alcohol-related liver disease. Wonder what they did about the pickled brains ...

lol yeah it would! IMO- that stuff is bad news right there. I believe we actually have a resident pharmacist on here if I'm not mistaken? I bet he has some neat stuff too (label wise )
