This post/thread made me look up my old Danzig collection which I ignored for far to long.

A page of my collection which shows that using CTO stamps can still make a nice page.

Nice work Johan,
what mounts are you employing? I don't recognise them.

No mounts needed Rod.

This is a Lindner falzlos album.

Pictures or a description of the stamp on the paper and the stamps can be put in a clear part on top of that.

Depending on the lay out, it can also give you some extra room to put an extra stamp in, the top right stamp is with Danzig Langfuhr cancel and the one on the bottom row, second from the right is the same kind of stamp with a Zoppot cancel.

Sometimes you have a little shift in the position of the stamp, but that is easily corrected.

Oh, the Lindner Falz Los pages.

The newer versions like Johan's are pretty nice.

The older versions were actually three-layer pages -- the back layer with the images, then the clear mounts layer, then a top layer with the border, etc., and holes cutout where the stamps go. The overall effect looked really clean and nice, with the mount visible only within the stamp window unlike the newer version.

But, that made it difficult to get the stamps in and out. I bought a Croatian collection mounted in these and had to cut the pages into hundreds of pieces to get the stamps out without damaging them.

Bingo!
just yesterday, encountered the very same with an auction lot I bought a year ago, of Poland.
Never encountered these before, took a while to figure out what was going on.
Tried to save the mounts, but was pointless.
As you, took to the pages gently with scissors to rescue the stamps.

Thanks Johan,
glad I asked the question, we learn something every day.

Solved : by our member Bob. Bookbndrbob

It is "Schwarzer Strich under den Zierstueck" (black line under the ornament). It occurs on plate positions 51, 56, 76 and 96. Source is "Spezialkatalog dear Danzig-Briefmarken" by Gerard Schueler.

Hello from London. Does any one know of specialist publications relating to inter-war Danzig (1920-1939)? I have a large number of stamps mostly with errors but I haven't a clue as to their value.

Nice nail heads! The positions of the stamps are:

1.) 2 mk red Mi. #96. Field unknown. Nail head printing, bottom right.
2.) 6 mk red Mi.#109. Field 30, or Field 40, or Field 50. Nail head printing right.
3a.) 10 mk orange, If Mi #110 Field 19. Nail head printing left.
3b.) 10 mk orange, If Mi.#125 Fields 80, 89. Nail head printing left.
4.) 8 on 4 mk blue Mi.#102. Field 1. Blue spot between Freie and Stadt, and nail head printing middle right.

Source is the same as given in Rod's posting above. Schueler does not mention the spot in the "d" of Stadt (Mi.#102), so it must not be a consistent feature.

Thank you bookbndrbob,

Have put notes with the numbers next to the stamps.

I have to get that Schueler catalogue.

I found a few more from Danzig.

A couple of Danzig postmarks on German Empire stamps from before 1920 and from the WW II period.

Also a paper fold one, and a nice Sobbowitz postmark.

Nice cancels Johan! The Sobbowitz is Wolff #4. It has a straight line (2 lines, actually), "(FREIE STADT DANZIG)" under the center panel. The earlier Sobbowitz (Wolff #3b) has "(Kr. DIRSCHAU)" in an arc in the bottom panel.

Source is Klaus Wolff's "Danzig-Stempelmarken" Band 1 1993.

Scan 5: Grosszuender (#5), Zeyer(#4), Mariensee (#7)
Scan 6: Stutthof (#7), Ohra (#5), Neuteich (#9)
