Kris Rascher - Agreed! Claude Andréotto is a talented stamp designer as well as being a skilled stamp engraver. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Javier Pereira (allegedly 1789-1956), a Zenú Indian from Colombia who was reputedly over 160 years old at the time of his death, engraved and printed by American Bank Note Company, and issued by Colombia on December 28, 1956 as one of a set of two similar stamps commemorating the "supercentenarian," Scott No. 669, plus an image of a photo of Javier Pereira, whose advice for a long life was: "Do not worry, don't drink too much coffee, smoke a good cigar." -nethryk |

On April 23, 1985, the D.D.R. issued this stamp to mark the 100th birthday of Egon Kisch. The label depicts the house where Kisch was born in Prague. From Wikipedia, "Egon Erwin Kisch (29 April 1885 - 31 March 1948) was an Austrian and Czechoslovak writer who wrote in German...From 1925 onwards Kisch was a speaker and operative of the communist international." |
