Lovely!

Is it a modern issue?

Cheers

Unknown James,
going by the Queensland cachet,
I suppose 1980's onwards.
It's a bit of an enigma, the cachet looks professional in origin
but the fly and cover has the scent of a humourous stamp collector.

I can tell you the flies in outback Australia
defy description in their numbers.

Inspite of all efforts the flies in the U.S. have proved to be untrainable for the performance of postal tasks and we are resigned to simply shooing them.

All stamps collectors are kids at heart.

In Australia, we have trained them
to pitch on our backs, and fly up our nose.

I am back in training on the bike
did a painful 30km today, and swallowed a fly
on the way home.
They don't go right down, but stick in your
throat and tickle, no amount of dry retching dislodges them

Our flies are also well trained in that. Actually "Shoo Fly" was a popular molasses candy in the 1865-75 era, abost a early advertising cancel.

Is there no byway, old track, distant route,
bypass, or diverticle, that stamp collecting
doesn't have us meandering down ?
