Hi to all

With my new copy of the Stanley Gibbons Part 17 China, 2011
I was able to identify the bottom stamp easily.
It has no watermark and and is perf 14 so hopefully if I have got it right it is a 1 or 1a.
However the top stamp has me stumped.
It is orange, the paper is orange, it is ten cents it has no watermark.
Any information would be useful.
Regards
Horamakhet
I can not find it in Gibbons, or perhaps I not looking hard enough.

Getting the watermark from that orange paper can be darn near impossible.

Best guess is a 1891 10c violet on red. Probably does have a watermark (Crown and C A ), which is difficult to see with the "red" paper.

Same thing. The SG 38 10c purple/red was issued 1/1/91 according to the 2012 Commonwealth & British Empire 1840-1940 catalogue. The value is 1.75 £.

Scott lists the stamp as Scott 44 10c violet/red with issue date '91, and valued @ $2.25.

As mentioned, should have the Crown CA watermark.

Hi Jkjblue, Rod222, and BAYERN1kreuzer,
Thank you all for the very helpful information.
This is why this is the greatest stamp forum in the world.

I shall have a great time sorting out my Queen Victoria Hong Kong. You never know what treasures the family may have hoarded.
Regards
Horamakhet

The quality of the 10 cent stamp is really bad.
BUT the cancellation is interesting and less common.
It is a French mail boat cancellation!
LIGNE PAQ. FR.
2? OCT. 9?

Wow!..I was paying attention to the stamp, and not the cancellation. Even if I did, I wouldn't know what to make of it.
Bayern1kreutzer, what a pick-up!
