What is the best catalog to use for classic Hungary with respect to varieties (watermark, perforation, overprint, etc.)?

Preferably in English.

I don't have a very recent Scott Classic Specialized. Does its listings for Hungary go into more depth than the regular Scott volumes?

Yesterday I bought a 7-stockbook mess of used Hungary covering the period 1900-1970 (sorry, no pictures yet), to go along with the previous stockbook messes of Hungary that I have.

I plan to go through them looking for SON cancels, but as long as I'm taking the time, I might as well look for varieties as well.

Thanks.

The 2011 Scott Classic catalogue definitely breaks down the issues by perf and watermark, has has quite a few minor numbers for color varieties.

I don't have a standard Scott catalogue to compare.

I suspect the Michel (In German of course) is more detailed.

SG publishes an Austria/Hungary catalogue. I've not seen it.

I guess the best would be "Magyar Posta- és Illetékbélyeg Katalógus"... A collector friend of mine (from Hungary) once scanned me some pages from it, and it was way beyond the regular (=Michel,Scott,SG etc) catalog. No english version I fear; but the pages I've seen have had excellent philatelic details that any advanced collector can understand pretty easily despite the language barrier.

And there is the `Magyar bélyegek monográfiája' (1968)-VII. thick volumes, 'The Monography of Hungarian Stamps', unfortunately only in Hungarian, otherwise a very detailed work(history of each stamp, a general postal history, postage etc.etc.) For cancellations there is Gudlin's 'Classic Postmarks of Hungary' (trilingual edition, Hungarian-English-German). And as scb said, the 'Catalogue of the postage and revenue stamps of Hungary'-indeed only Hungarian versions, issued every year. The latest one I can eventually offer is from 1998 (for free, if postage is affordable, which I don`t know) , I use a 2000 edition. Anyway, if you have any detailed questions about Hungarian stamps I`ll gladly try to help ( but don`t have Scott, so instead of numbers refer to year of issue or post a picture).
