Outside of Canada, I am not a specialist in the British empire. I still look for bargains nonetheless. I purchased this collection last week while browsing for Canada stamps and squealed like a kid at Christmas when I actually received it. I'm at work and don't have any pictures outside of the listing, but what is pictured was only the tip of the iceberg. http://www.ebay.com/itm/28074850962....m1497.l2649

I can't wait to get home and post pictures of stamps that were NOT shown in the listing. Like a 1p Red Cape of Good Hope Triangle (not the S Afrika reprints), India states ... most of which I cannot identify, Aussie states, a full page of Mint/used Canada from the 1930s, Lots and lots of KGV and KGVI from around the world, more than twice the amount of stamps mentioned in the listing ... |

wow, that's a nice deal... pay attention to those penny reds. If you are going to collect B.E. stamps then you must have a Stanley Gibbons catalog.. they make specifically for B.E. and Colonies to 1975. |

Quote: The 2/-6 seahorse is worth it alone Someone saw it! It has the cat # penciled in on the back (221?), which was the least expensive of that type but still cats at $45 iirc. Quote: pay attention to those penny reds.
I'm not even certain where to start with those. I will get an SG catalogue eventually, but may not have time to sit down with these until I retire ... in 25 years :) |

The Fiji 1£ Bugler almost makes the purchase worthwhile on it's own. At very least it catalogs @ $19.00 for used (Yours might be a per favor cancel) but check to see if it's a Perf 12½ then it jumps to $65.00 for used. The 10/- next to it catalogs at $20.00. |

And you have a very nice starter collection of the Indian States in there, too. Three stand out immediately: You have a pair of Travancore 10 Cash stamps with the On S S overprint, with one stamp missing the left 'S' in the overprint. This is SG O31i, cat. at £48. You also have Jaipur SG O16 - the 4 Anna elephant carriage overprinted SERVICE - this is cat. at £65 mint. I also see a Jasdan SG 4; this is cat. at £22. There may be other goodies hidden among the Cochin, Hyderabad and Travancore, but they'd need to be checked for watermarks and perforations.
Looks like a very good buy! |
