honestly, all of this overprinted stamps are killing me softly becouse I could not find the information regarding the overprinted and their not listed in the stanley gibbons catalog of what I have currently.maybe I should get other catalogs which have the japanese overprinted stamp listing complete.any suggestion?again,i need some help from some stamp experts like modern and so on.below photo is showing kedah and selangor stamps overprinted "war tax" inverted and side way.beside that, there is also another malaya stamp overprinted "OHMS.PERAK" on it and really have no idea what it is used for or maybe its a counterfeit overprinted, someone told me about it.i have few questions for all this stamps below

1.is this overprints genuine or counterfeit?
2.is this overprints listed in any other stamp catalog?
3.have you seen all this overprints before on all this stamps?
4.are they common or rare overprinted stamps ?
5.whats the current value for all this stamps?

please check them out and answer the questions.please help me for the last time, thanks.

Miko, the Japanese overprints are not like any shown by Scott. What their catalog recognizes as officially issued occupation stamps do not have such overprints, though it shows other handstamps that were applied to stamps from the region.

As to the OHMS Perak on the Straits Settlement stamp, Scott shows no officials for Perak beyond 1896, and none for Straits Settlements. The OHMS on this stamp appears to have been put there by typewriter, not a printing press. By whom or when? Unknown. Could just be someone playing around with some old stamps.

Speaking of fishy in a related thread, seeing an unusual number of errors being asked about by this collector including one that looked like it was produced with a typewriter, I suggested that it could just be someone playing around with some old stamps. There was never a reply and it's also curious that the photo of those "errors" has disappeared.

However... whatever...

I agree with Davis and Ziggy, Giving you info on how something may occur would be fine with me. As far as commenting on value or scarcity of an item I am afraid I could not offer you that advice seeing as how it is being used.

"and all this white men think this overprints are forgeries feeling like to con someone else."

Personaly I take offense to this. Several "white men" on this forum have tried to explain to you that these are not listed in Scott because often they were not overstamped by the official government of the time and are not considered official postage. the concern about conning people was brought up because you came to this forum looking for advice like you were just another collector and then you listed a link to that thread in an ebay auction that included an extremely high price for something we aren't 100% sure about. As far as I am concerned you are using this forum strictly to pad your own pocket without doing any real research on your own. You have been told the name of reference books that include these stamps, please go buy one.

If I have offended any other members of this forum I apologise but I feel it is an attitude like this that gives any kind of collecting a bad name.

Richard
