Opened the Denmark album in the collection I inherited and found this home made page.

kind of mystified about how 4 of the ad stamps that "should" have cancellations have only the slightest traces.

Nice page. Here is my best guess...on a few of your examples, additional postage may have been placed over the labels, and when soaked, the added stamps floated away, taking with them the portions of cancels that you would have expected to see on the ads.

Welcome to the forum Dan

I guess it is just the luck of the draw that the last 4 stamps were not cancelled on the label portion, but, it is not uncommon. As long as the postage stamp itself was cancelled, is all that the post office is worried about so that the stamp cannot be used again.

A lot of countries created advertising labels adjacent to the stamp. Belgium and Germany are also strong in this field as well, among others.

Those are very nice stamps Dan and a specialty all on their own.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP. I thought perhaps the question was relating to the examples where the cds just stops, not continuing onto the label. Second row, far right, or bottom row, left, as examples. It appears that something masks off the label...

cjd, Ohhh You've got a darn good point - good thinking! That makes a lot of sense.

rod222, I think now what I SHOULD have done is to post scans of each pair along with the whole page. I'll get to that.

Bujutsu and dmui, thanks, I have a facit 1951 I'll see what it has to say
