Here are details and pics for the Diwali Picture Postage(tm) stamps released by
Canada Post in September.

These are the first in a series of stamps produced by
Canada Post. There will be three different issues, with two designs per set. A contact of mine, who spoke with the National Philatelic Centre in Antigonish, gave the following "issue" dates:
Diwali: Sep 12/11
Eid: Oct 13/11
Hanukah: Nov 7
I understand that there were 1,300 panes printed of each of the Diwali stamps.
Here are the full panes:

Here are details of the "order numbers" for the above two panes:

And details of a copyright (?) date in the lower right corner:

For the record, a contact in Ontario purchased these stamps at an outlet in Toronto (check out the
Canada Post website:
www.canadapost.ca/diwali where you can search for post offices in a city of your choice).
The Diwali panes he purchased had a UPC barcode on the back (mine received via an online order did not). His "order numbers" were:
Candle: 10060748
Flower: 10060747
His dates in the lower right corner were:
Candle: C 12 2006
Flower: A 12 2006
Anyone know the significance of these?
