Hello everyone, I thought I would share with you some of my stamps, some mint but mostley used and hinged. There is really nothing all that special or rare about them but they were the basis for my interest in stamp collecting.

I really enjoy the classical stamps of the 1920 and 1930. The colors are really beautifull and the engravings are just spectacular!

I would like to hear your thoughts on them.

You have a nice collection there,
an enviable collection of the Ceres,
a beaut Paquebot cancel.
I agree with you, the early portugal were
outstanding pictorial engravings, I love them.

On a personal note, whilst I know it's good to show
off your collection, but with a packed page, something is lost,
I would like to see some of the engraved, or the more obscure stamps
shown if full image, one stamp at a time, so we can study them.
That's not a criticism of your post

Thanks for the comments. Ill try and get some close ups of my favorites so that everyone can the quality engraving.

rod222, I didnt think that the ceres stamps were all that special. Since they were definitives used during such a long period of time, there are many varieties of these. I even know some collectors that specialize in these varietie. Do you know of any other definitive set (of other countries) with this type of variety?

Brought back memories of when I was young and collected world-wide. I remember having some of those ones with the crusader on horseback. Really a beautiful collection!

Whaaaat?

I think it is one of the most amazing sets in Philately
when I see them at auction, I cannot help myself
I snap them up (and often overpay)

Ceres to me, connects us to the ancient world,
the goddess of the harvest has been celebrated since pre history
and for France and Portugal and others to keep her alive is fantastic

The designer with the Ceres Key-Type did a bang up job
Ceres is shown as a proud handsome woman.
and why not? she feeds all 7 billion of us.....

Remember she adorns the stamps (in the one design) amongst others, of....

Portugal
Azores
Tete
Quelimane
Congo
Guinee
India
Timor

....in reverence to her, I shall now have breakfast
(Cereal = Cere - al)
Corn Flakes
