Wonderful stuff AnthonyUK!! I would have brought that potential Paris Star '40' for 'certification' - looks like a '4' to me. (well, for whatever my judgement is worth, as I was just corrected for mistaking a '7' for an anchor! )
The Marcophille site offers some guidance when it comes to indicating rarity/value of different strikes on each French stamp, but not so for the used abroad stuff. May I ask - which catalog are you guys refering to for the french used abroad - Yvert or Maury? The Scott Classical is improving, but still has quite a poor coverage.
btw - thanks for the compliment AnthonyUK!

Great pages, Blaamand. It is nice to be able to view those stamps together. |

Cjd - thanks! I'm quite pleased with the excel presentation, as it allows me to sort the lines/inventory on whatever combination/order I like, eg. by year, by country, continent, cat value, design, cancel, condition and lots of other different parameters. In that way, I could easily sort the list to show only the forerunners with French design on top of the list. A stamp-idiot like me like that kind of options! |

For catalogues for France I use Maury, Y+T and SG. For completeness I also have an older Michel too. The best list of PC and GC is wikipedia for me. |

I've enhanced the '40' a bit more. It is possibly a 10 with a few random marks. |

Please let me bump this marvelous thread with a question: I just found a sc. #33 / Yv. #29a with a losange gros chiffres mark, which doesn't raise any question in itself. However - the GC at hand is in red ink. My reference site does only list GC in black or blue for this particular stamp. http://marcophilie.org/x/x-cot2-i.html The red GC is listed for other stamps with significant premium in value, but no mention for my stamp. Does anybody have a better reference listing the red GC for no.33 ? Thanks for reading, Jon |
