The tayra (Eira barbara), also known as the bush dog, is an omnivorous animal from the weasel family Mustelidae, and the only species in the genus Eira. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a tayra, printed by lithography, and issued for use in Belize on January 1, 1974, Scott No. 337, plus a photo of a tayra.

#SeaOtter #maxicard.
"The sea otter (Enhydra lutris) is a marine mammal native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. Adult sea otters typically weigh between 14 and 45 kg (31 and 99 lb), making them the heaviest members of the weasel family, but among the smallest marine mammals. Unlike most marine mammals, the sea otter's primary form of insulation is an exceptionally thick coat of fur, the densest in the animal kingdom. Although it can walk on land, the sea otter lives mostly in the ocean."

The above image shows the postmarked stamp, on my mailing address label.
Below, see how I applied the label onto the postcard, thus creating a non-traditional maximum card/ maxicard.

#RiverOtter #maxicard, postmarked with my own postmarking device/canceller (Mailer's Postmark Permit #67, Sterling, Virginia).
"The North American river otter (Lontra canadensis), also known as the northern river otter or the common otter, is a semiaquatic mammal endemic to the North American continent found in and along its waterways and coasts. An adult river otter can weigh between 5.0 and 14 kg (11.0 and 30.9 lb). The river otter is protected and insulated by a thick, water-repellent coat of fur."

Hi, This is a lovely thread; usually the "small mammals" don't get much attention next to for example elephants and tigers, so I'm going to look through my collection and see what I can find. For starters, the fox and hedgehog youngsters. The pictures are photographs, but they are nicely done and the borders have information about how big the animals get, where they can be found, and the Latin name. (Germany, spring of 2014)
