Hi,

I have two complete sheets 25 in each MNH of Belgium # 80. I've seen a couple of catalogue quotes (with labels?) at $8.50 /each - I'm going to take the stamps with me to a local bourse event and see what I can fetch - but I'm trying to get my head around a don't sell for less than figure. I've attached a photo. Appreciate any thoughts or selling tips.My objective is really just to offset some of what we've spent on stamps so far.

I bet they're neat. I'd like to see a closeup of the margin markings, if you have the time.

I think this item might be of too specialized a nature to sell well at a typical local bourse. It needs lots of eyes on it, I would think, to find the right buyer. Many dealers would be hard pressed to pay very much for a sheet, and then sit on it for the right buyer, or break it up and have a ten-year supply of Belgium 80.

Nice sheet! However, it looks like there is a near complete perf separation between the 2nd and 3rd rows. That essentially eliminates any premium associated with the full sheet. To me, it would be nothing more than the equivalent of a wholesale lot of 25 Belgium #80. I would view the selvage markings as an incentive to buy this particular lot of Belgium #80 rather than another wholesale lot of #80 singles (i.e., the former would be easier to sell than the latter). It would be unlikely for me to pay extra for a sheet with such a significant perf separation. My opinion.

Beyond that, I agree with what Cjd posted.

Thanks CJD - here is the close up of the margin - my photography is nothing special and I don't want to take them out of the plastic - hope it helps.

They are neat - I love the don't deliver on Sunday tag and the art is very cool. Finding people interested in the sheets is going to be a real trick.

I read on another stream the the label attached is a very important issue for these stamps-do you know what that might refer to?

I assume it is a reference to the Sunday tag, sometimes called a "dominical" label. Belgian stamps that were available with the label need to have it attached for top catalogue value.

There are a few threads here that discuss these...search "dominical" and you will pull up a few. Interesting history.

hi khj - the perf is actually attached on the left hand side and the second sheet is fully attached (I figure the less I move it around the less chance I have of messing it up). I'm going to try and sell that one.
