The first definitive set of Jind State, on thin yellowish wove paper: ˝ Anna, SG J1 (SG J1a - the variety 'retouched all over') 1 Anna 2 Anna yellow, SG J3 2 Anna brown-buff, SG J4 4 Anna, SG J5 8 Anna slate-blue, SG J7 And as each stamp was drawn individually onto the lithographic stone for each sheet of 50, and there were two sets of stones for all values except the brown-buff 2 Annas, there's plenty here to get the teeth into. |

Quote: the variety 'retouched all over' A truer description ne'er was giv'n. Nice pix. My one true Jind* is the pride of my Jind accumulation. (*The one I bought from you, and therefore the only one of which I'm sure.) |

Well, Cjd, in return for those kind comments, let me offer a slightly less Ugly definitive set, from the reign of George V: Hyderabad: the 1931 definitive set, Plates by De La Rue, and recess printed at the Hyderabad Mint And for completeness, the listed shade of the 8 Anna (yellow-orange as against the normal orange): It dates from 1944, so not strictly Geo V. |

I suppose it's 'yellow-orange' when compared with the normal shade, which is 'orange (shades)'. |

Being not at all familiar with modern stamps of Canada, why the need for a set from 37 to 47 cents, missing only 41 and 44? Was this issued over time, reflecting postage increases?
[edit: I apologize in advance for asking, rather than trying to glean something from the catalogue listings...] |

These are the first class stamps. As the postal rate went up the Queen was worth more! |

Canada`s Flag Series. All first class rates. These are singles from sheets and booklets. With the 50c rate the flags came out as sets of 5. During the 45c rate the post office decided to make the stamps smaller. |
