Those DDR definitives will be a near future project for me, I have a bunch of them lingering around.

BeeSee, the GDR definitives were fun to work with. However, sometimes the watermarks were a little hard to identify. I still have some I need to add to the album pages.
Cheers, Robert

Beautiful butterflies and ugly insects from Tuvalu, issued in 2001.

This is one scary character!

@fifia That 30 years Posthorn Definitives souvenir sheet
is quite nice. Was that an official or private reprint ?
The reason I ask is because I can't find it listed in Michel.
You're lucky if you have the original set MNH since it's the
centre piece of any FRG collection.

@Trainwreck Nice job on those DDR 5 year plan sets.
I remember when I was a kid I found CTO's of these in all the
cheap packets and approvals. When I tried to trade them
nobody wanted them because everybody else had them too.

@BeeSee Those bugs look really real but don't you think
they're too colourful to be definitives?
Perhaps I should have said only monochrome or at the most
bi-coloured examples need apply.

Are these considered definitive issues for the British Virgin Islands? I have the series from 1/2c to 60c (not the high values). One of the most attractive looking series of stamps (especially for definitives, if that's what they are) that I have seen:

Thanks lithograving,

here is the second half of this edition:

I do not if it is an official edition or where they are from. I sold some to an SCF member. Maybe he reads this posting and he will respond. or LB1?
The others are in an album and hard to scan. I will have to check if I have all of them. I am blown away at all thes DDR defenitives. The same story - I thought I have a set! Will check tonight. Thanks.

As requested, here are the remainder of my British Virgin Island Definitive "Fish" Issue. As I said earlier, one of the prettiest and most colorful series of stamps I have seen in recent years:

Nice fish WT1 - I counter your fish with this 1979 Tuvalu definitive issue ( unless Litho says they are too colourful to qualify )

BeeSee,

please forgive me. I have never heard of Tuvalu. So I looked it up.
Pretty small country for coming up with those nice stamps. In case
you are planning a trip, here is a map and directions to the post office...(Where is that banana smiley)

No, No, they're OK BeeSee, I love fish.
Is the black-tipped rock cod good eatin?
Cod's not bad but I prefer halibut.

Definitive sets aren't always a mile long. These three were the only
definitives issued during the Kennedy administration.
But they were outstanding and looked absolutely modern
compared to what came before.
Truly a New Frontier in stamps.

Scott 1208

One of the few stamps with no country indicator.
Great minimalist design but such instantly recognizable symbols known
worldwide.

Scott 1209

Issued exactly 100 years after Black Jack this Jackson
image was designed by William Schrage based on a 1829 medallion
by Moritz Furst.

Scott 1229

IMHO one of the best Washington stamps ever produced.
