lorrlis: Yes. An attractive series.

Jkjblue: It's been awhile, but the arrow-shaped white-top below the bow of the vessel is a distinguishing characteristic for one of the printings. Always liked the little train passing in the background.

Cheers, Robert

Great definitives everyone.
An amazing thread and discussion.

I think more opinions are needed on what Litho said earlier [Page 6], just so it doesn't get confusing.

Quote:
Commemoratives may acknowledge an anniversary( Centenary, Bicentennial etc) of lets say a battle or significant event.

Definitives do not

Surely this is not true. Earlier I showed a definitive from Israel that was issued for an event but was not inscribed thus. There must be many others.....or maybe this should be another topic entirely ?
I'll find some more examples.

In the meantime:

GB 1992 Castle High Value Definitives
From photos by Prince Andrew.
Engraver, C.Matthews
Printed in Recess by Harrison.

One ellipse on each vertical side.

Another Israel Flag Definitive.
This one was issued in 2008 to celebrate 60 years of Independence and coincided with the WSC2008 Exhibition held in Tel Aviv.

Once again, no clue as to the event on the stamp itself, although the Tab on the sheet version has a 'flowing Ribbon '60''.

This stamp has been re-printed a number of times and many varieties can be found, especially in the various Booklets.
