Hi Guys

Maybe some one can explain something to me about Scott pricing...??

The Scott # 203 below is a mint stamp with full gum but was hinged.
When I look in the Scott catalog it gives me the price of the stamp...

1 - Mint
2 - Used
3 - Never hinged
4 - Imper pair- never hinged

Where is...

5 - Mint-hinged (price)

For this stamp the mint price is for mint hinged and for later stamps the mint price will be for unhinged. The catalogue specifies for each country the first issue where the "mint" price is for unhinged.

Unitrade, which uses Scott numbers and pricing, gives a bonus of 100% of the mint value for this SC#203 stamp that is mint, never hinged. So your $60.00 Very Fine mint stamp is valued at $120.00, assuming that it's also unhinged.

Thanks guys...Yes it is a well centered stamp....One draw back, it has it's complete glue, but has been hinged.

The price drops in half, I presume.

Found on the internet this "Official Announcement" for the World's Grain Exhibition and Conference Stamp Overprint:

I'm more fascinated by the envelope it came in. I've never seen a "slogan cancel" designated "Free" for the free postage by the Deputy Postmaster General:

wert,
Sorry, but as I said at the outset of my post, the cover and announcement aren't mine; I just found them when web surfing the internet about the Conference.

Actually, you and other SCF members might be interested in the link for this and other postal history information about that Conference:

I stumbled on that Postal History Corner site well over
a year ago and have been checking in periodically because
he is constantly posting new stuff.

This is a real labour of love created by a dedicated philatelist.
