Gold Strike On Italian Colonies On Ebay !

A week ago I was browsing and saw a woman on ebay had a stockcard of Italian colonies including the Castelorizo set for Eleven dollars and shipping free ! I wanted that set so I bid my 11 dollars and hoped for the best...it happened I won !! The stamps came today...over 400 dollars catalog...including the Agean Islands scott 31-35 soccer set which catalogs $290.00 in my 2008 catalog and most likely more in the 2012. Folks this shows that many people who list on ebay have no idea of the value of the items they list..this person was very happy with 11 dollars postpaid and Christmas came early for me...i still have 30 or 40 other stamps to catalog !

Probably a poor widow trying to scrape together enough money to buy her little children an orange and a few nuts for their Christmas stockings...

thanks Kirk, isn't it kind of odd that I get outbid on the junk and then no one seems to see the bargains ?

I think it's just like a real auction -- no rhyme or reason as to why people bid on the items.

I have a friend of mine right in town here who collects the Italian colonies but he is somewhat frusttrated at the moment because he is not finding any real bargains at all lately. A lot of sellers are trying to get as close to CV that they can and it appears that the Italian colo0nies are hot right now.

I have to admit that the CV ratio and what you spent on the lot was a great find and it is luck like this that makes it worth hunting for more often.
