Here is what I am assuming is an early Japan issue. I cannot find any item that matches its image (note EP in center) in Scotts.
Any of you have a better catalog and can give a # for this? Thanks beforehand.

You have a Japanese revenue. My best guess in matching it up to the limited images in Forbin is an 1873 issue, though depending on how the editor intended the listings, it could perhaps be 1876, too (and based on the perfs, that would have been my first guess).

Does it happen to perf 10 or 13?

Looking at the listings again, I think the 1873 issue would be rouletted, so that is out for yours.

Best guess based on a 100-year-old catalogue is 1876.

Someone with the Shimomura catalogue will come forward.

[edit: I should clarify...Forbin lists two columns for values for the 1876 issue...perf 10 and perf 13. Speaking relatively, perf 13 had ten times the catalogue value of perf 10.]

P.S. Great stamp. I like it.
