The more often I run across Indian States, especially used, the more I become suspicious that I have found yet another reprint or outright forgery.

Comparison with the illustration in the catalogue (S.G.) appears correct but the color is a bit off and the cancel? Would not be concerned with an inky blodge but neat semi-circles?

Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Backroads, I'm afraid it's a dud - copied from Gibbons. This what the real thing looks like:



and used are scarce (usually cancelled with a dumb cancel of bars, from memory), and genuinely used are stratospherically rare.
