India 1900's Stamp With "Service"

I have several stamps from India, with "SERVICE" stamped across them. Does any one know if these stamps were used for "official" or some government service? I am getting these mounted was not sure to place them in there own page. The albums I am using do not show these stamps.

That is correct. Indian and Pakistani stamps inscribed/overprinted SERVICE are official stamps.
