Anyone out there know what this is? I didn't see it in Scott - It's very small - the design is about 9mm wide and 10mm high.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Peter

The paper isn't particularly thin - regular paper. I have been staring at it a bit more and the overprint could be an inverted post horn??

Another pic. for scale.

Seems like it could be some sort of kids toy stamp - about the right size. Not sure what the overprint though. No need for that if it was a toy. Could it be a coupon from a savings stamp or something like that?

I could not find a direct answer.

Maybe because most uniforms of the branches were green(Medical branch) or dark blue(inspection and administration) except air defense/artillery which was black. Communications should be blue uniform, but shows a green uniform on the picture.

The OP's "stamp" is a toy stamp or kinderpost stamp, part of a kid's toy post office play set with midget "stamps", cancelers, ink pad and (I think) envelopes and even imprinted postal cards. So yes, a cinderella and sometimes found on real mail.

You will see stamps sometimes inscribed "Liliput", "Kinderpost" (children's post) or "toy post". The stamps are all tiny rough imitations of current stamps of the time, perfed (perf 8-9 or somesuch), usually off-center. I don't know if stamps were specific to country sold but most I've seen were imitations of German stamps.

Like this (about 4x actual size).

And it looks like the concept goes on, From the Swiss post office:
