Hinging stamps tonight and came across these two. Are these two issues Poland 16 and 23 -or- N6 and N9? They seem to be a combination of the two. And, what is the story behind these two stamps? It seems that with all the overprinting on them there has to be an interesting story behind them.

They would be Poland #16 and #23 in the Scott catalog. Without the surcharge they would be #N6 and #N9.

There is a note above Poland #11 in the Scott catalog that discusses these overprints/surcharges.

Thanks khj - I've now got them in the right place in the album. I guess it was the "Gen. Gouv." bit that threw me.
